Volodymyr Lytvyn, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, attaches importance to the novelties in the new version of the constitution of Ukraine, not the time of its adoption.
"I am interested in the quality of amendments, the way they will be drafted, and their effectiveness for the state", V. Lytvyn declared on Wednesday, asked what personnel of the Parliament will amend the Constitution of Ukraine.
He is convinced that amendments to the Fundamental Law shall be adopted, provided "the society tells that these amendments are pressing, and they will make us more democratic, civilized and predictable, opening further prospects."
V. Lytvyn believes that amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine shall be introduced "under the order established by the Fundamental Law." "When we suggest novelties that differ from the constitutional requirements, we may form a dangerous precedent of new constitutional amendments being adopted for the benefit of some political situation, which would be a real stress for the state", he explained.
